Departure from hotels to Ek Balam
Guided visit to the archaeological site of Ek Balam, rich Mayan capital, called Talol that, according to the written sources of the XVI century, was founded by Éek'Báalam (Dark Jaguar)
Most of the buildings are from the end of the classic period but some discovers of the recent preclassic show that the place was inhabited before
The entrance to this site, protected by two walls, starts with a magnificent Mayan arch, and continues with the buildings of the ceremonial center, the oval palace and a great size mayan ball game
It presents 45 structures: The Acropolis, on the north side, is the biggest structure and contains Ukit Kan Le'k Tok''s tomb
It measures 146 m long, 55 meters wide and 29 meter high
The plaster frieze, splendidly preserved, covers the door with open jaws and the fangs of a snake or a monster; above these, the king in his trone and on the sides, the figures of winged warriors
Besides of Ek Balam, this time of decoration can only be found in the distant style of Chenes, in Campeche

After this visit, lunch will be served at the Aldea Maya restaurant and afterwards we will visit the Hubiku cenote with free time to bathe in its undergrounds waters
In the afternoon, we will head to the colonial city of Valladolid, where we will make a stop at the central square to visit the cathedral and adjacent buildings
After this, we will head back to the hotels
